Sunday May 4th: CINCO de MAYO potluck at 11am, complete with mariachis!


Tuesday May 27th:  Game Night at Vista, 6:00pm


Sunday July 6th: INDEPENDENCE DAY Potluck at 11am

Summer Activities for Teens

What's going on for teens in Catalina this summer? Here's some ideas:


Martial Arts Classes: Starting summer 2012, martial arts classes will be held at Abundant Grace Church (240-7670). Call Ron at 975-8661 for more information.


Teen Program at the Catalina Rec Center:

Monday – Friday, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Ages: 14-17

This program offers teens a safe, alternative place to hang out with friends and play pool, video and computer games, cards, board games.

Summer Reading for teens at Dewhirst-Catalina Public Library, May 24 through July 21:

Meet your reading goal to receive a $10 Bookman's Coupon

.Finish six activities to get a Concert Pre-Party Pass.


Catalina Community Services

CCS is offering a ton of fun activities for all ages, including teens. Activities include sewing, dancing, crafts, games, science exploration, and more. See their website at www.catalinacommunityservices.org/currentevents.

It's summertime, and what is there to do for kids in Catalina? In addition to the various VBS sessions posted below, here are a few other options in town:


Summer Program at Catalina Rec Center:

Ages 5-13; 5 year olds must have completed Kindergarten

We offer a wide variety of activities for the program. Such as, outdoor play, sports, AZ nutrition, arts and crafts, indoor group games, board games, Environmental Education, guest speakers, swimming, and field trips. Free program except for special activities and field trips.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Summer Session: June 4 – July 27, 2012

Registration (by lottery): April 16-20, 2012 during business hours


Regularly Scheduled Events at the Dewhirst-Catalina Public Library:

Toddler Storytime Wednesdays, 10:30-11am

Spin, Pop, Boom Thursday, June 21st, 10:30am 

Arizona Juggler Monday, July 9th, 10:30am

Summer Reading for Kids, May 24 through July 21:

For meeting your reading goal you will receive a free book. For finishing six activities you'll get a Zoo Pass.

It's VBS season!

It's that time of year again!  There are several VBS programs happening in Catalina this summer:

  • Open Door Baptist -June 4-8, 2012 "The Egypt File" ages 5-12, 9am -12pm , SIL campus (591-5227)
  • LifePoint Church-June 11-15, 2012 "Babylon" K-5th grade, 9:30am-11:30am, $10/child (917-0530)
  • Vista de la Montana United Methodist Church - also in June (825-1985)
  • First Baptist Church -June 25-30, 2012 9:30am (818-2555)
  • Santa Catalina Catholic Church -July 9-13, 2012 "SonRise National Park" 9:00am-12:30pm (825-9611)
