Sonoran Bells, Tucson’s premier community handbell ensemble, will open their 2016 holiday season on December 11 at 3:00 in the afternoon with a concert at Vista de la Montaña Methodist Church, 3001 E. Miravista Lane in Catalina. Under the direction of Shannon Casey, the program will feature classic carols and contemporary arrangements of tunes such as “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You”.

 

Sonoran Bells, established in 1999, is a community handbell ensemble based in Tucson and comprised of experienced handbell ringers chosen by audition. The group quickly established itself for the ensemble’s musical excellence. In addition, they are proud of their educational focus, which consists of hosting festivals and workshops throughout the year, thus providing a resource for other local handbell and chime ensembles. A variety of classes are offered to directors and ringers who are interested in building their ringing skills.

 

Please come and bring your friends and family on December 11 at 3:00 p.m. to enjoy this outstanding program. Handbells are beautiful to see and their music is guaranteed to get you in the spirit of Christmas. The concert is free and all are welcome. Donations appreciated. On Sunday, November 13, at 3:00 p.m. Vista Fine Arts invites you to enjoy the incomparable Wildcat Jazz Band. Comprised of six of the finest musicians in Arizona, they offer traditional New Orleans and Chicago jazz, performed in a spirit and style true to its musical roots and wildly popular with audiences across the United States. Their energetic performances are sizzling with musical energy and steeped in good humor.

 

Members are banjo great Rob Wright; jazz pianist and singer Ray Templin; trombonist Rob Boone; bassist Evan Dain, trumpeter Rick Peron and Marco Rosano on saxophone and clarinet! All have illustrious professional careers and are outstanding musicians! Their program will feature songs from the jazz legends of the 1920s and 30s.

 

These “doctors of jazz” have found the cure for the common blues – it’s red–hot jazz, and it’s contagious! Singing, dancing and laughing are greatly encouraged and impossible to avoid.

 

Vista Church is located at 3001 E. Miravista Lane in Catalina (west side of Oracle Road, 3.7 miles north of Tangerine). Please join us on Sunday, November 13 for an afternoon of lively entertainment. Admission is free. A donation of $10 is appreciated. All are welcome!

Come to Vista on Sunday, April 17 at 3:00 in the afternoon to enjoy the renowned Tucson Girls Chorus as they bring us “Songs from Many Lands.” The advanced “touring” chorus will present a program designed to bring light to a place on this planet in need of healing and peace. You will hear music representing light, healing, peace, joy and freedom, including some middle eastern influence. The Tempe Symphonic Wind Ensemble

 

Vista Fine Arts is thrilled to host the Tempe Symphonic Wind Ensemble for their third concert in Tucson. The date is Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. and the place is Vista De La Montana United Methodist Church.

 

The ensemble, now in its 26th season, “plays for the love of music….” and you will love their program! They are presenting “Music to Cure the After-Holiday Blues,” a concert of delightful selections including “Procession of Nobles” by Rimsky-Korsakov, “El Capitan” by Sousa, and “Symphonic Selections from South Pacific” by Rodgers.

 

The Tempe Symphonic Wind Ensemble, organized in 1989, is composed of 46 of the finest musicians from the Phoenix metropolitan area. These musicians are dedicated to the performance of outstanding band literature and have provided Arizona with a unique cultural experience of the highest quality.

The first fine arts concert for the 2014-2015 season will be held at Vista de la Montana

United Methodist Church on October 12, 2014 at 3:00pm. It will feature the

Tucson Chamber Artists. Tickets are $20 pre-concert and $25

at the door. Students with ID are $5.


The next concert will be the Jovert Steel Band from Tucson High Magnet School on

November 9, 2014, at 3:00 pm. A free-will offering will be taken.
