Market on the Move January 26, 2013

Join Santa Catalina Catholic Church for their 3rd monthly Market on the Move, January 26, 8-11am!

Santa Catalina Catholic Church teams up with Market on the Move (MOM) in rescuing and distributing fresh fruits and vegetables to the community.  Under this program, a family can get up to 60 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for a $10 donation. One of the many objectives of MOM is to share the produce with family, friends, and neighbors who are in need. In addition, MOM also wants to bring awareness on the aspect of healthy eating.

MOM is the flagship project of The 3000 Club, an all-volunteer non-profit organization, which has been rescuing and distributing 30 million pounds of nutritional produce every year that would have been wasted or hauled into the landfill.   MOM was created to respond to the challenging economy which we are currently experiencing.  There are too many families, especially children, who are going hungry and yet millions of pounds of fresh produce are thrown in the landfill every year because of imperfections, the demand suddenly stops or the produce brokers need to create space for newer shipments.  MOM provides a “farmers’ market” atmosphere at various distribution centers throughout the Tucson and Phoenix areas.  The Santa Catalina community encourages everyone to support this program and share information about MOM.

For more information about The 3000 Club and MOM as well as the most updated schedule of event sites, please visit its web site at www.the3000club.org or www.santacatalinaparish.org
